Coach Matt McLean - Aquatics
Frosh/Soph Coach
Coach Matt McLean joined the Westlake High School Staff in the
fall of 2007 as a Math teacher and Assistant Coach of the Swimming
and Water Polo teams. Prior to joining the Westlake staff, McLean
coached and taught at the Daland Swim School for four years.
McLean also worked as an instructor's aide and substitute teacher
at Pinecrest Elementary School for the 2006-2007 school year.
As a student, McLean played water polo and swam for Westlake
High School. He was a three-year Varsity letterman in swimming,
helping the Warriors continue a run of five consecutive Marmonte
League Boys Varsity Swimming championships. McLean also captained
the Boys Water Polo team during his Senior year at Westlake
High.
After Westlake, McLean went to the University of Toronto
where he played water polo for the University's Varsity Blues.
During his time with the team, the Blues won three Ontario
University Athletics Association Championships. He graduated
with an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science.
Also a Mathematics teacher at Westlake High, Mr. McLean can
often be found in the WHS Math Department, helping students
overcome their fear of the subject. When not on deck or at
school, Coach McLean enjoys watching the Toronto Maple Leafs,
the Los Angeles Lakers, and going to see a good movie.
